A Jack’s Hard Cider Cocktail
How did hard cider find its way into the history of the Revolutionary War? The story goes that to prepare to take Fort Ticonderoga from the British in 1775, Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys, drank heavily before the attack. The fort was lightly garrisoned but had many cannons, so liquid courage was needed. Early in the morning of May 10, 1775, Allen and the Green Mountain boys surprised the sleeping British. Armed with courage from the drink of their choice, the Stone Fence, the drunken militiamen took the fort. Its capture became the first offensive victory for the new American forces.
So, raise your glass to the Stone Fence and its part in the American victory at Fort Ticonderoga.
- 6 oz Jack’s Hard Cider, we used Helen’s Blend
