Meet the Team: Philly Sales Rep Mike Maguire

We couldn’t make our delicious Jack’s Hard Cider without our amazing cider makers, and we couldn’t get it into your hands without our dedicated sales representatives. We’ve already introduced you to some of our cider reps—Chris Dayton (Pittsburgh area), Julie Lawson (Franklin, York and Adams counties) and Mary MacRae (Georgia). Now we would like you to meet Mike Maguire, our Philly-area rep. We asked him some questions so you can get to know him a little better:

What is your job title? What does your job involve on a day-to-day basis?

I’m a sales representative for Jack’s Hard Cider. I visit both on- and off-premise accounts in and around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I work hard to establish and maintain relationships with each account and our distribution partners.

How long have you worked for Jack’s Hard Cider?

I started working for Jack’s part-time in April 2015 and went full-time in April 2016. It’s actually a great story. I tried Jack’s once and really liked it and was having trouble finding it in my area. I reached out to the company and asked how I could help get the word out about their great-tasting products. The rest, as they say, is history!

Mike MaguireWhere did you grow up?

I grew up in Collingdale, Pennsylvania, not far from Philadelphia. Now I live in Springfield, PA, with my wife Meghan and our 10-month-old son, Michael Jr.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Growing up, I always thought I would be either a comedian or a scientist. Now, I’m a musician and a cider representative!

Do you remember your first sip of hard cider? What were your thoughts about it?

Yes, I do remember it. It was another brand. Although I thought it was a tasty alternative to beer, the one I tried was much too sweet to enjoy more than one. That’s what I love about Jack’s. It is not an overly sweet product and you can definitely have more than one.

What is your favorite cider and food pairing?

I love pairing Jack’s Original with pulled pork. The flavor profiles really complement each other.

Which cider is your go-to cider, and why?

The Conewago Orchard is my go-to cider. I really like the dryness and the slightly sour bite at the end.

Mike MaguireWhat do you love most about your job?

I love introducing people to the world of craft cider, spreading the word about Jack’s and getting to interact with the cool and colorful people in my territories.

What do you do in your spare time for fun?
