Everything You Need to Know About the Hard Cider Run 5K

Last August, we hosted our very first Hard Cider Run through a scenic course on the grounds of the Hauser Estate Winery, home to our very own Jack’s Hard Cider. Participants had the opportunity to dash down vineyard rows, tackle the rolling hills and see first-hand where our handcrafted Jack’s Hard Cider is made. The runners got to taste our crisp and refreshing apple ciders after the race, too. It was so much fun that we’ve decided to do it again!

The Nitty Gritty

Join us on Saturday, April 16, for our next Hard Cider Run, with waves beginning at 9 a.m.

Love our cider but hate to run? No problem! We encourage everyone who wants to get a first-hand look at where Jack’s is made to participate. Run, walk, jog, stroll, skip, dance—we don’t care how you finish the 5K or even if you finish! Serious runners will have their own waves, and we encourage not-so-serious participants to take their time and enjoy the view.

Each participant will receive a 2016 finisher’s medal, a glass of hard cider (soda will be available) at the finish, a commemorative glass to keep and an awesome t-shirt.

New for the 2016 run is The Hungry Apple option. Enjoy a scrumptious donut at each mile marker—if you eat all three, you’ll receive a second, exclusive The Hungry Apple medal when you cross the finish line. Yum!

After you complete the course, stick around for our awesome after party. There will be delicious food available for purchase, live music and of course, lots of cider.

Why do we love hosting The Hard Cider Run so much? Jack’s president, Jonathan Patrono, shares, “Jack’s is excited to host this wonderful event that showcases our cider and farm where everything is made and produced. These 5Ks provide a unique opportunity to allow participants to explore the property in a way that others rarely can. We welcome these events that guide runners through our orchards and vineyards on our family property that we are so proud of.”

Make It a Team

Jacks Hard cider Run 2

Want to make it a fun friends’ day out? If you register as a team (four or more people), you save $5 each. Teams do not have to register all at once. The first person to register creates a team name (the sillier the better!) and sets a password. Then just let all of your friends know. Also worth noting: you do not have to stick together during the run. In fact, we do not score teams based on time; all timing is done individually.

Kids Welcome

The Hard Cider Run is also a great family event We even have youth-sized shirts, and kids will receive a nonalcoholic apple cider! Please note, however, that no strollers are allowed in the run. If you bring a stroller, you will be asked to run without it. Unfortunately, you’ll also have to leave Rover home, too, as no pets are permitted.

We’re also looking for a few good volunteers. Volunteers not only receive some great swag but also get a choice of either a complimentary race registration (for next time) or a donation to a charity of their choice.

Packet Pick-up

Race day packet pick-up will be available beginning at 7 a.m. Please be sure to have an ID with you because we know you’ll want to drink some cider!
