It is National Apple Dumpling Day! The apple dumpling is so treasured as a traditional American dish, Mark Twain included it as one of the foods he missed while traveling through Europe. We have the best, and easiest apple dumpling recipe that you can whip up in less than an hour. It would make Mark Twain proud.
- 2 whole Apples
- 2 cans (8 Oz. Cans) Crescent Rolls
- 2 sticks Butter
- 1-1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- Cinnamon, To Taste
- 1 can (12 Oz.) Jack’s Hard Cider Helen’s Blend – the most important ingredient. We use Helen’s Blend, but you can use your favorite variety. Just make sure you keep the rest of the 6-pack cold, so you can enjoy with your dessert.
Peel and core apples
Cut each apple into 8 slices each
Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll
Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan
Melt butter in a small saucepan, add sugar and stir until dissolved
Add vanilla, stir, and pour entire mixture over apples
Pour cider around the edges of the pan
Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve with ice cream and the rest of your 6 pack of Helen’s Blend
